Kartikeya Tripathi is a PhD student at the UCL Department of Security and Crime Science. His previous degrees include an Master's of Research in Security and Crime Science from UCL, a Master of Criminology and Criminal Justice from Oxford University, and a Graduate Law Degree.
His research is concerned with finding ways to increase the efficiency of passenger screening operations at railway stations. He currently work with metro rail operators to study various design aspects of security procedures with the view to increase throughput of passengers at checkpoints without compromising on the efficacy of threat mitigation by security personnel.
He applies findings in Operations Research, Organizational Psychology, and Crime Science to analyse work methods of security personnel and improve practice procedures.
His work involves collecting data at metro rail stations under varying conditions. The data is then employed to inform the development of operational models for railway stations.
His previous work experience includes a career in journalism where he specialized in the working of organised crime syndicates and South East Asian terrorist groups.
