Research Zoom: hippopoachingResearch on wildlife poaching suggests that this phenomenon is clustered is space and time. These patterns of poaching activities reflect the dynamic interactions of the animals, the poachers and the patrols, and the influence of the terrain. A computational agent-based model of hippo foraging and trail emergence was developed to explore and identify the conditions which may create spatial/temporal clustering of poaching. Read more....
